core

Core is an extremly important component that influences output and has a direct bearing on performance. interleaving and mitred joints reduce core losses and no loads currents significantly. Core is built from low loss, fully annealed, cold-rolled, non-ageing, grain-oriented silicon steel sheets insulated on both sides. the use of rigid box type for clamping the core reduces the magnetic noise and thereby making the whole structure rigid. to reduce the losses, specially designed wound core is used for all types of transformers.

windings

Windings are of many types namely, (a)spiral (b)cross-over (c)helical (d)continuos disc. the windings are designed to optimize dynamic, thermal, electrical & mechanical stresses subject to current and voltage requirements. the coils are wound with electrolytic high conductivity paper. cooling ducts are provided to ensure the low temperature-gradient between winding/ oil to keep the hot spot temperature as low as possible.


Core & coil assembly

We put special emphasis on precision when it comes to core coil assembly. All the h.t. & i.t. coils are preshrunk, varnished and dried before assembly. Vertical and horizontal support of pc board of necessary strength and size, suitably interlocked, is provided. Each h.t. coil section is separated by press board rings. Yoke insulations are made of pc board, permalli wood or bakelite sheets depending upon the size and voltage class of transformer lt leads are taken to the bushing terminals though proper bus bars/flexible jumpers. Ht tapping leads and line leads are taken to the respective terminals through srbp tubes-all suitably braced. Complete assembly is then dried in a thermostatically regulated oven at 90 c. the core assembly is further tightened to prevent shrinkage at the end of the drying cycle.

 

Tank fabrication and painting

We have designed our tanks to withstand rough weather. Cooling radiator made from elliptical tubes/ pressed steel fins are provided to keep the temperature rise within specified limits. The welded type tanks are made of fine quality mild steel. The tanks are shot-blasted, pressure tested and thoroughly cleaned. The inside walls of the tanks are covered with two coats of oil and heat-resistant paint whereas the outer surface is covered with epoxy based zinc chromate primer and double coat of epoxy based anticorrosive paint. It gives the tanks extra-life. The finished transformer is again pressure-tested full with oil at 0.8 kg/cm.

 

Drying arrangement of tanking

The core and coil assembly is further heated, baked and dried in vaccum drying chamber until the desired insulation resistance level is achieved after the initial heating and drying of core & coil assembly for compressing the winding to obtain the desired parameters of windings. The coir and coil assembly is tanked and filled with degassed oil under vaccum, once the drying and tightening process is completed.
